Does Elon Musk Have A Cooler Car Collection Than Jeff Bezos? You Decide
Almost everyone living in a developed or developing country has heard about two of the richest people on the planet. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors, and Jeff Bezos, the founder and executive chairman of Amazon, have gone back and forth as the richest people in the world in these last few months. These billionaires have founded two of the most successful companies in the world. Imagine living without Amazon, and Tesla was one of the most significant factors in bringing EVs to the mass market. So they have earned the right and money to buy and enjoy some of the best and most luxurious items. But it is us, so we’ll talk about their car collections.
Since they’re billionaires, no doubt they have an enviable set of cars hidden in their garage or garages. One of them is the founder of an automotive brand, so it must mean that he would have a better collection. But that’s not always the case. Jeff Bezos also has a garage that is sure to impress a gearhead. Both have a lot of money and both like to shelter a lot of fancy and diverse cars. So who has the better collection? Well, we picked 5 of the most amazing ones from each of our competitors and pitted them against each other for you to decide.
10 Jeff Bezos: Lykan HyperSport
Some might argue that The Lykan HyperSport is not a real supercar. We have seen it in movies and video games more than in real life. But you bet it’s real because the world’s richest man has it.
Apparently, there are only 7 of these in the whole world. This Emirates supercar from W Motors comes with a 3.7-Liter flat-6 engine that makes 780 hp. Jeff can push the car to a top speed of 245 mph. Let’s see what Elon Musk has got to retaliate.
9 Elon Musk: Tesla Roadster
The Tesla Roadster is the child of Musk himself. Technically, this Roadster is in Musk’s car collection, but not in his garage anymore. Elon is also the founder of the aerospace company SpaceX. And he sent his Roadster to space! Musk stuffed his Falcon Heavy rocket with the same car from his personal garage.
The Roadster is Tesla’s first model ever, and it could do 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds. To add more to the cool factor, you can track exactly where the car is in space via this website. How cool is that?!
8 Jeff Bezos: Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio
The names Ferrari and Pininfarina go hand in hand with each other. There are so many cars that Battista Pininfarina, and then his son, Sergio Pininfarina have designed for the Italian manufacturer. This $3 million secret supercar is here to commemorate the epic partnership.
Only 6 of these exist, and the customers of each one have customized them to their style at a workshop in Maranello. And the head of Amazon is one of those customers. It’s got the same dashboard, center console, and steering wheel as the 458 Spider but with some changes. But the rest is both unique and amazing.
7 Elon Musk: Hamann BMW M5
Musk was a huge fan of the 2006 M5 to start with. It’s a beast of a car, we all know that. But the founder of Tesla took it to German tuning house Hamann and asked them to make it slightly wider, more aggressive, and to delimit the powerful V10 engine.
The result was a 600 hp monster that anyone would love to drive once. In fact, this is what inspired Elon Musk to install the Ludicrous Mode on the Tesla models that cranked the power to 11.
6 Jeff Bezos: Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
The Veneno Roadster is perhaps the single most expensive vehicle in the Billionaire’s garage. This Lambo had a price tag of $5 Million. It’s one of those cars with a Monocoque chassis full of carbon fiber and a host of fancy stuff like a Multi-Point fuel injection system.
The Veneno Roadster has a 6.5-Liter V12 that makes 740 hp and 507 lb-ft of torque. The top speed of this thing is 220 mph, but we bet you will be only focusing on the engine tune. It’s one of the best sounding engines in our opinion.
5 Elon Musk: 1976 Lotus Esprit “Wet Nellie”
Remember that car that could turn into a submarine in James Bond’s The Spy Who Loved Me? It went for auction in 2013, and Elon Musk bought it for just $3,000 shy of a million bucks. Sadly, the Lotus Esprit aka Wet Nellie could not turn into a submarine by the press of a button like in the movie.
But wait, there’s more. It actually works as a submarine, just not as a car. There are four battery-operated propellers and mechanical levers that can adjust the fins. So cool.
4 Jeff Bezos: Bugatti Veyron Mansory
What’s better than a 1,000 hp Bugatti Veyron? The $3.4 Million Bugatti Veyron Mansory. Mansory is a highly esteemed German luxury car modification firm. If there’s someone that knows how to modify the Veyron to the next level of luxury while keeping its exclusivity intact, it’s Mansory.
The 8-Liter W16 motor is also modified to make 110 hp more than the stock version. This modified Bugatti can now deliver both impeccable comfort and a 2.5-second 0-60 run effortlessly.
3 Elon Musk: 1920 Ford Model T
What does Elon Musk have to answer to that beast of a car? Tin Lizzie itself, the Ford Model T. Despite some belief, it’s not the first automobile ever. But it is the first affordable automobile for the masses.
The Model T made vehicular transport accessible to the common folks, and that’s why it’s so important and has a huge legacy. A friend of Musk has gifted this piece of history to Musk, and he has sheltered it in his garage ever since.
2 Jeff Bezos: Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita
Again with limited edition cars and exclusive ownership with the Amazon head here. The Koenigsegg CCXR is one of the best supercars of the ‘00s. But the CCXR Trevita takes things to the next level. It’s arguably the fastest car in Jeff’s collection. It’s almost the most expensive too, costing $4.8 million.
This beauty comes with a 4.8-Liter twin-supercharged (yeah, not turbocharged) V8 engine that makes about 1004 hp and nearly 800 ft-lb of torque. But the focus of attraction of the Trevita is its diamond weave carbon fiber finish on the bodywork. There are only 3 in the world, and Jeff owns one of them.
1 Elon Musk: Jaguar E-Type
The Jaguar E-Type is, according to Enzo Ferrari himself, The most beautiful car in the world. He had wanted to get one since he was 17. He finally bought it from his $40,000 bonus when he sold his company Zip2. But the E-Type broke down when Musk drove it home from the dealer.
It kept breaking down on him, but he never got sick of it at all. In the video above, Musk claims that vintage cars are like “Bad Girlfriends”, and the Jag was no exception. Still, he loves his prized possession and the E-Type Roadster will stay in Musk’s garage for years to come.
